Windows & TUtoolbox
To establish a connection to the SWD server via Samba, you can proceed as follows:
After successfully logging in, you will see all the software products assigned to you.
Each product is stored in a directory, with (depending on the product) sub-directories differing by language, system or version. With each product directory you will find a file with the name Read_TU.txt, which can be opened with any text editor (e.g. Notepad, Notepad, ...). It contains important information such as serial numbers or installation instructions. Please read these notices necessarily before the installation.
If you cannot connect to the software server, please note the following:
- Your network must be properly configured and wired.
- Your computer must be registered and have a valid DNS entry (registration-TUnet).
- With our Portchecker you can test whether the software server from your computer can be reached from.
Alternatively, you can also make the connection conveniently with the Connect SWD tool, which is included in our new TU toolbox. For that Download and run the Toolbox Installer from here https://service.it.tuwien.ac.at/swsupport/tools/tutoolbox/.
After successful registration, an Explorer window opens in which you can see your products. Please DO NOT close this window, as the drive is not displayed in the "normal" Explorer. By calling the tool "Disconnect SWD" the drive can be disconnected again (a disconnection also takes place automatically with a restart).
If you cannot connect to the software server, please note the following:
- Your network must be properly configured and wired.
- Your computer must be connected to the TUnet (VPN from the home office).
- With our Portchecker you can test whether the software server from your computer can be reached from.
